The Remedy’s Psychiatric, Psychotherapy and Neuropsychology Services
Psychiatric, psychotherapy and neuropsychology services provided by The Remedy are covered by most major insurers including Medical Assistance and PMAPs.
Medicare will cover psychiatric services and neuropsychology services, but will not cover psychotherapy performed by masters level therapists (except Licensed Marital and Family Therapists- LMFTs- hopefully this will change in the future)
If our services are not covered by your insurance, you have a high deductible plan with an HSA, or have no insurance, your options are:
- We can provide a superbill to submit to your insurance so you can be reimbursed through your out of network benefits, if your plan has them.
- You can request that your insurance cover our services at in-network rates through a “single case agreement”. You will have to request this specifically from your insurance company.
- Feel free to discuss with your psychiatrist or therapist the possibility of a “sliding fee scale arrangement”. We are committed to doing the best we can to help you stay engaged in treatment and achieve the goals you are committed to
Insurance Coverage of Other Treatments
Spravato treatment – Your insurance may cover this service but you should check with them directly on the details, co-insurance and deductible portion you will be responsible for.
Prior authorization with strict criteria for documentation of, and meeting the definition of treatment resistant depression is also often needed. There may be certain diagnoses you have that your insurance company will use to deny paying for your treatment with Spravato. We are happy to discuss this with you, and help you appeal any denial with any supporting documentation your insurance company may require.
Extended psychotherapy sessions (over 1 hour) – Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy sessions often require 2 hours or more, and therefore may not be fully covered by your insurance. If this is the case, this service will then be billed through Golden Life Ketamine requiring you to pay at the time of service and submit the superbill you are provided to your insurance for whatever out of network benefits you may have or to use as documentation if you choose to use your HSA. We are happy to provide you with a “superbill” which will have all of the visit and diagnostic codes required.
Ketamine Infusion Therapy is done on a private pay basis and not billed through insurance. Payment is expected at the time of service. Billing is through Golden Life Ketamine, Co-owned by Dr. Sawyer and Danielle Golden.
If Ketamine infusion therapy is recommended for you, you are not obligated to receive your Ketamine infusions at The Remedy. . (Though we hope that your confidence in us would have you choose The Remedy for your Ketamine Infusion therapy).
You are free to choose any ketamine infusion center you wish. Other Ketamine infusion centers include: Minnesota Ketamine Clinic, Ketamine Wellness Centers, Minnesota Ketamine and Wellness Institute as examples, as well as others. Choose the Clinic you have most trust and comfort with.
We do offer a financing program through Advance Care. Pull down the “For Patients” menu and select “procedures covered”. From that menu select “Ketamine Therapy” if that is the service you are interested in, or “Psychiatry” under which you will find options for TMS, if you wish to finance TMS treatments.
The Remedy has no financial interest in, or connection/ownership of Advance Care, and does not profit in any way from your use of this service, which we present to you as an option to make your care with us more affordable and attainable.
Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation- dTMS– is typically covered by insurance and will be billed through The Remedy.
There are strict prior authorization requirements for TMS which we are happy to facilitate for you. Most insurance companies will require that you meet their definition of “treatment resistant depression” and may deny coverage if your diagnosis does not meet this. criteria They may also deny coverage for Bipolar depression or if you have other diagnoses which they deem a contraindication for TMS. We are happy to discuss these issues with you and to facilitate an appeal of your insurance company’s denial in order to assist you in getting the care that you need.
If TMS is recommended for you by any practitioner at The Remedy, you are not obligated to have your TMS procedure done by The Remedy. (Though we hope that your confidence in us would have you choose The Remedy for your TMS therapy).
You are free to choose any TMS center you like including centers such as: MHealth Neuromodulation Clinic, PrairieCare, or Psychiatric Fidelity TMS Centre, amongst others.
